Immediate click as soon as I read the album title, “They Call Me Disco”, and saw the artwork
Ric Wilson and Producer Terrance Martin have created a delicious summertime throwback of disco grooves and warm funk. This is feel good music to spin next to Anderson Paak + Dâm Funk. Perfect for a sunny Friday afternoon.
Bit late to the party but our absolute favourite disco vapour monster Skylar Spence has teamed up with The Knocks called Amelia Airhorn … because why the hell not. ‘NY Is Red Hot’ takes a sample of boogie heavyweight ‘Take The Country to New York City’ by Bohannon and adds some extra groove. Great fun for this summer heat.
Dig into the whole album over here on Soundcloud as presumably its too much of a licensing nightmare to get anywhere near Spotify. Shame.
Genre Confused favourite Skogsra is back with his new track ‘Rumours’. Nice long intro on this one as Skogsra slowly builds up the production into his driving beat. Nu-disco collides with spinning vocals and pounding piano. Definitely a grower this one. Get listening.
The best news in this overflowing river of bad news is that Tuxedo are back in business! Mayer Hawthorne and Jake One have dropped a short and sweet EP of their signature boogie bangers. We love the title track ‘Fux With The Tux’ (obviously) but at the same time we can’t resist a good old slow jam. So here is the hot ‘July’. Check out the whole EP.
Nice bit of future bass here from Big Wild. Builds up to the drop which lands with nice synth twinkling keeping things light. Smattering of the Future Classic / Wave Racer sound with disco house flavour.
