Generally I wouldn’t consider myself to be a huge fan of ‘indie’ but sometimes you listen to a track and it just totally grabs you. This was the case for the new single from The Griswolds, an Australian band who are fairly well known down-under but don’t have much of a profile here. I suspect that won’t be the case for long.
Beware the Dog is catchy as hell from the very start. Plucked guitars and Hammond organ manage to bring to mind Highlife and Soukous at the same time and remind me of basically the only part of Vampire weekend I ever really liked. File next to Friendly Fires but with solid songwriting and a little of that Australian magic that seems to be going round at the moment.
Surprise summer hit?
It is on Soundcloud as well if Spotify is not you’re thing. Its just a bit of a low quality version.
